SUN 12/11: Art, Tea Party, Rock, Trivia

It's late, and it's short. I did have a good time at "Holiday Heck House" last night.

--------------------------------------------------------------

SUN 12/11

2:30pm to 5:30pm
Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School Cabaret: Life Drawing Class
at Great Scott, 1222 Comm Ave, Allston
$8 / 18+

Models: Madge of Honor w/ Johnny Blazes

There are few times when hanging out at a bar is considered creative or artistic beyond napkin origami...

At Dr Sketchy's, drawing and drinking are combined at whatever ratio you desire as the usually wild models put provocative twist on traditional posing.

A couple of tips that I cribbed from the organizer a while ago:

Come on time to get a seat up front. Keep it small so others can crowd in around you. Bring your stuff in a milk crate so you have something to sit on or put your stuff on. (we have lots of seats, but more is helpful) There will be some fancy paper for you to buy if you want.
No one is going to criticize your drawing, so don't worry about your skills. You gotta start some time, and you're not going to find a cheaper life-drawing class... with a bar... and no teacher... You might even win a prize.

Just go, get arty/tipsy, and have fun.

SUN 12/11

4pm to 5:30pm
Annual Boston Tea Party Reenactment
at Old South Meeting House, 310 Washington St, Boston (Downtown Crossing)
$8

You know what's crazy about the Boston Tea Party besides dumping tea in the harbor while dressed up as Native Americans? It happened in December! It was only 238 years ago on the 16th, that a small band of rebels left the debate at Old South Meeting House and punched Great Britain.

You can sit in for the a re-creation of the debate that took place that night to hear Sam Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock and others discuss the fairness of British rule. see how the the 'original teabaggers' did it. If you go, bring some tea to throw walk over to the harbor.

A genuine Paul Revere bell has been installed, and it will ring outside from 3:30pm to 3:40pm.

SUN 12/11

8pm
Black & White Animal Night Fundraiser
at Radio, 379 Somerville Ave, Somerville (Union Sq)
$7 / 21+

Feat: Sugar Snow (8pm), I Pistol (9pm), Cancer Killing Gemini (10pm), raffle (11pm)

Even if you're not a cat person, the Kitty Connection mission is to rescue "homeless, abandoned, abused or unwanted cats and dogs."

If you're going to rock out tonight, why not listen to some good tunes and save some animals? Bring a few extra bucks for raffles.

Say hello to the videographer. He writes this blog...

SUN 12/11

8pm to 10pm
The Big Quiz Thing
at Club Oberon, 2 Arrow St, Cambridge (Harvard Sq)
FREE

Do you know a free trivia night where there's a $200 1st-place prize? It's very competitive, but it can be done. The Cheap Thrills Boston team tied for 2nd place in June. I think our team helped to make the night considered to be "The ideal live-trivia audience".

Your average pub trivia is alright, but this is probably the most entertaining trivia game I've played. If you don't win the grand prize in the 3-way finale, your team could go home with some books, DVD's, gift card and/or tickets to "The Donkey Show".

There are audio and video questions. Even a wrong answer has a chance for points if it's funny enough.

There is a bar as well even if it isn't a pub.
