While it would've been nice if the Sox had won a few games on the road, but does the season really start before the home opener against the Yankees?
Technically, yes... Still, it's not too late to finish with a 156-6 record.

FRI 4/8 (and SAT 4/9)
9:30am to 5pm
FIRST Robotics Competition
at Agganis Arena, 925 Comm Ave, Boston (BU campus)
FREE
Over the next couple days, high school students will bring their robots designed to play the specific game that's created each year to get a spot in the Saturday afternoon finals. It's a bit like the Rock 'n Roll Rumble except not as cool...
None of the robots will have lethal weapons, of course, but it might be amusing for a little while anyway.
The 'action' takes place from 9:30am to noon & 1pm to 5pm today, and 9:30am to 12:15pm & 1:30pm to 4:30pm tomorrow.
FRI 4/8
2pm to 7pm
All-you-can-eat Fenway Franks
at South Street Diner, 178 Kneeland St, Boston (near South Station)
FREE
Most of us don't have tickets for the home opener, but this promotion is a fairly good reason to take the afternoon off.
Since they're not close to Fenway Park, South Street Diner has a good incentive for watching the game with them.
I'm confident they won't skimp on the hot dogs as long as you're drinking at a reasonable pace (where they will make their money). Still, it's better than popcorn...
