Did I mention I went to the tree lighting ceremony in Boston Common last week? If anyone went at 6pm based on my listing, I apologize. I got there after 7pm, and that was more than enough holiday singing and dancing.
It's a nice tree though -- and we don't pay for it... Maybe I'll post a few pix tomorrow.

MON 12/7
6:30pm
Peaches/Harvard Lampoon Karaoke Party
outside Lampoon Castle, 44 Bow St, Cambridge (Harvard Sq)
FREE
Harvard's old comedy club is going to induct Peaches as an honorary member tonight. This strikes me as a few Harvard Lampoon members' attempt to meet the provocative electro/rapper.
On the other hand, it's a secretive club that congregates in the castle with the whimsical face. Maybe they do an "Annual Canadian Synthpunk/Glam Rock Awards Dinner".
Before dinner, there will be a public karaoke party outside on the steps. Everyone can't sing "F--- the Pain Away", so we'll see how deep is the love for her.I've got a feeler out for the start time (am guessing 6pm); feel free to share if you know, and I'll update.
Update: According to someone at Peaches' record label, it should be about 6:30pm.
MON 12/7
7pm to 10pm
MassArt on Stage: Readings of New Plays
at Tower Auditorium, 621 Huntington Ave, Boston (MassArt campus)
FREE
In three hours, there will be four staged readings of in-progress plays including an offering from Playwriting professor Lin Haire-Sargeant. In the limited info I found, it says that "audience critiques invited." These must be short plays at this point, and they probably don't get much audience critique.
Maybe it would raise the fun by sharing any crazy notion you have about the work...?
"Light refreshments offered."
MON 12/7
7pm
Science on Screen: "American Beauty"
at Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard St, Brookline
$9
The more I think about this movie, the movie was filled with tales of suburban dysfunction but they were highlighted by the active yearning for happiness by Kevin Spacey's character. I'm not sure if I'd go see it again for the discussion by Dr. Daniel Gilbert (psychology, Harvard) who wrote the book, "Stumbling on Happiness".
There will also be a raffle for 90-minute(!) massage, courtesy of Advanced Massage Therapy. Happy, happy, joy, joy!
MON 12/7
10pm
Viva Viva
at ZuZu!, 474 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Central Sq)
FREE / 21+
Although not listed on the band's MySpace page, I'm pretty sure the Middle East would know who's playing in their various spaces. It seems that rootsy indie-rock/Americana/folk-rock is often featured on Monday nights since live music has returned to ZuZu.
Besides the fun-fun of the double-double theme-theme, Viva Viva at ZuZu should be a good fit for something that might be a little more laidback than the set they play in the Downstairs room.
