Happy Solstice, everyone! The days will be getting longer now...
Update: As of 3:30pm, you can still RSVP for "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
Supposedly around 11pm, members of the "Mamma Mia!" cast are doing a "Christmas cabaret" tonight at Club Cafe ($10 suggested donation). Proceeds benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

MON 12/21
8pm to 9pm
Three Day Threshold: UNHCR Benefit
at All Asia Cafe, 334 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Central Sq)
$10
The "doors may open" at 7pm, but Three Day Threshold is playing around 8pm as far as I know. They'll probably be joined at least some of the Summer Villains for an hour of kick-ass honky-tonkin', jingle-bell-shakin' good times. They've recorded some holiday tunes, so be prepared...
There are some people that like to slag the United Nations, but the UNHCR is one of the most productive agencies in the world as far as providing real aid to refugees all over the world. (My uncle used to work for them, and you could tell these people really friggin' hard.)
MON 12/21
10pm
The Windy Smiles, Second Floor Stories
at ZuZu!, 474 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Central Sq)
FREE
It looks like Second Floor Stories is driving up from New Jersey to lay down some sweet tunes along with The Windy Smiles for an indie, folky, rootsy time. It's free, folks. Give the love, and get the love.
MON 12/21
10:30pm to Midnight
"A Midsummer Night's Dream": Winter Solstice Open Rehearsal
at Midway Studios, 15 Channel Center St, Boston (Fort Point/Seaport)
FREE
You could wait until summer to get a free fix of Shakespeare in the Common, but there is a group that performs throughout the year in small venues around town. For a little irony, the winter production takes place in the middle of summer. (These people are good actors!)
The play runs from 12/30 to 1/24, but you can RSVP to see if there's still any room for tonight's open rehearsal. It should be a fun experience to also interact with the director and actors more than a usual night.
The official info states: "We will begin promptly at 10:30PM and end at midnight."
