It's not a mind-blowing Monday, but how many are? At least there's no cover at the options below...
--------------------------------------------------------------
MON 6/8
9pm
Facebook Fans Party
at The Lansdowne Pub, 9 Lansdowne St, Boston
FREE w/ RSVP
The closing of Jake Ivory's is something to be celebrated in my book! I can't tell you what Lansdowne Pub is like (opened in April), but even another faux-Irish bar has to be better than dueling pianos.
My apologies to bridal shower parties that have to get drunk at disparate bars around town.
If you Facebook, it's easy to get in and enjoy some free drinks and maybe walk away with some giveaways. Become a "fan of Lansdowne Pub", and you'll be on the list.
MON 6/8
9:30pm
"Oxytocin"
at Middlesex Lounge, 315 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Central Sq)
FREE
There are loads of musicians that work at Harmonix, the Cambridge-based gaming company that created "Guitar Hero", "Rock Band", and of course "Dance Dance Revolution". As many rock bands that are associated with the employees, they decided to develop a non-rock project. I think Oxytocin is the name of electronica group and the CD. They're performing live tonight, and the bits I listened to seemed pretty good.
MON 6/8
10pm
Brutal Love Masters, Mark Robinson, Beautiful Weekend
at ZuZu!, 474 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Central Sq)
FREE
One can hang out at a new bar on Lansdowne or chill your way into the working week. The ambience in ZuZu practically forces you to relax inside this cozy spot. The dark interior and kitschy touches rarely hits you harder than a pillow -- with the exception of the drinks.
All the performers to night are guitar-based music that won't attack your senses but more likely give you a tingle as subdued waves of song flow around the room.
