Well, I had a fun weekend... I hope you did as well!
--------------------------------------------------------------
MON 8/25
Scarce (10:10pm), Dave Mirabella (9:20pm), Dan Cray (8:30pm)
at TT the Bear's Place, 10 Brookline St, Cambridge (Central Sq)
$3
Scarce was one of those Boston bands of the '90s that was oh-so-close to making it *Big-Time*, but it was one of those classic "singer has a brain aneurysm" stories... It all starts to connect as I'm writing up this little blurb -- I remember reading how Joyce the bassist decided to write her memoir, and this led to regrouping with Chick the singer to bring the band back. They're doing one their recent duo sets before some full band gigs in Europe.
Monday nights are the "Other Side Of The Bear Acoustic Series". Even acoustic, this should be quite a sight -- and sound. Dave Mirabella is quite the fine rootsy rocker as well, and I enjoyed Dan Cray's songs.
MON 8/25
9:30pm
Viva Viva, The Men
at Middlesex Lounge, 315 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Central Sq)
$5
It's a full-on ball-to-the-wall rock show in a spot that normally hosts dance nights. When they do have bands, it's usually a good lineup (like tonight).

The free bowling continues after the tourney for those who don't need to be alert on Wednesday morning.

TUES 8/26
6pm to 10pm
NetParty Boston Free Launch Party
at The Estate, 1 Boylston Pl, Boston (The Alley / Boston Common)
FREE w/ RSVP! ($20 w/o RSVP)
I don't necessarily enjoy "young professional" mixers, so wouldn't think of going to this if it wasn't free -- but that shouldn't stop you! There will be complimentary apps from 6pm to 7pm... The mixing continues until 8pm, then the music gets loud for dancing. (I have a feeling they'll send you a lot of email if you sign up...)
Update: Jeff from NetParty says they don't send a lot of emails. Also the music won't get loud during the social time, but I assume it'll get loudER if you stay long enough...

Thanks for the plug - it's appreciated - but we don't over-mail and the music at our events never gets very loud.
Hope to see you ...
